Runway Upgrade at Port Hedland Airport

Located approximately 1600kms North of Perth, PHIA is a gateway to the Pilbara and the North West and a direct link to the world’s largest bulk tonnage export port. The airport currently services up to 50 commercial flights a week including direct services to Bali and Brisbane.

The recent upgrades to airside pavements and infrastructure to improve safety, security, flexibility and capability included a new taxiway and full asphalt overlay. SGA were engaged by one of Australia’s biggest civil contractors to carry out over 105,000m² of runway grooving throughout the night.

We worked tirelessly with our client to ensure no flights were interrupted throughout the duration of works.
