Duketon Aerodrome Runway Build
The Duketon Gold Project is located in the Laverton region 350kms north-northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
We completed this project just before the Christmas break of 2019, working with one of the leading asphalt companies in WA to deliver approximately 50,000m² of runway grooving throughout the night.

- The project area consists of three operating centres comprising;
Moolart Well Gold Mine and surrounding satellite open pits including Wellington/Wallace, Gloster, Dogbolter and Petra. - Garden Well Mine and surrounding satellite open pits including Erlistoun, Tooheys Well and Russell’s Find as well as Garden Well South Underground Mine.

Purpose and Function:
Duketon Aerodrome primarily serves the needs of the mining operations within the Duketon Gold Project. Its key function is to facilitate the transportation of personnel and supplies to and from the remote mining sites.
Specifically:
It enables the efficient movement of workers, often flying in and out on a “fly-in, fly-out” (FIFO) basis. This is extremely common in the Australian mining industry.
It supports the logistical requirements of the mines, allowing for the transportation of essential equipment and supplies.
The aerodrome is private, and Prior Permission Required(PPR) is needed to use the facility.
Therefore, the aerodrome’s existence is directly linked to the economic activity of the gold mining industry in the region.

The aerodrome features a runway designed to accommodate aircraft necessary for FIFO operations.
Information shows that the airport has a runway that is designed to accommodate Jet aircraft.
Projects have been undertaken to ensure the runways integrity, such as runway grooving projects.

It is important to note that due to the remote nature of the airport, and that it is a private airport, that public use of this airport is not a common occurence.
